For the exhibition RG developed a model with the title: Parkplatz & Wartezone - Agentur für Arbeit. The architectural model has an integrated video-monitor. The documentary video shows szenes of an unsuccesful search for a parking space at the Job Agency Dresden and at the costumers parking lot of a discount market nearby, which is used as an alternative for the growing number of job searchers to leave their cars. The theme "unemployment and car driving" provoces not only discussions about the requirements of flexibility and mobility, but also raises questions about living standards and ecology. The car, which was originally a synonym for an alleged freedom an independency becomes in this video installation a symbol of fixation on conventions in our society, which are overcome by reality. |
